Veteran actor and well-known teacher Kola Oyewo has shared his tough battle with prostate cancer in a heartfelt revelation that has touched many.
Oyewo revealed this while talking to fellow actor Kunle Afod at his home in Osun State.
He spoke about when his health troubles started in 2019. He began having trouble urinating, which worried him a lot. This led him to seek medical help.
During one of the surgeries to save his life, Oyewo shared that he had to give up his ability to have sex.
He told his visitors, “I had a big prostate, but I feel better now. In 2019, I noticed that I was peeing on myself easily or finding it hard to pee.
“I went to the hospital, and they told me my prostate was getting bigger, so I needed surgery. They cut my stomach and put something to help me pee to prevent immediate danger.
“I also needed another surgery to stop my sexual ability. I agreed because I didn’t need it anymore, since my kids were grown up and had their own families.”
Kola Oyewo began acting when he joined the Oyin Adejobi theatre group in 1964. His first role was Adejare in ‘Orogun Adedigba’.
He now teaches performing arts at Elizade University in Ilara-Mokin, Ondo State.
