Republican candidate Donald Trump announced late Friday that he will debate Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris on Fox News.
Trump confirmed the debate with Harris on September 4, through a post on his Truth Social platform, stating, “I have agreed.”
It is unclear if Kamala Harris has confirmed her participation in the debate at this time.
Trump’s announcement followed Harris securing the Democratic Party’s nomination for the November presidential election earlier that day.
Trump’s campaign faced a setback when President Joe Biden withdrew his re-election bid last month, endorsing Harris as his successor.
Biden’s withdrawal came after a poor debate performance against Trump in June on CNN.

A second debate between Trump and Biden was planned for September 10, on ABC but was postponed until Harris’s nomination was finalized.
Trump had initially said he would not debate Harris, who is significantly younger than him, breaking from traditional campaign practices.
Kamala challenged Trump to a face-to-face debate, urging him to address her directly at a recent campaign rally in Atlanta.
Trump announced the debate will occur in Pennsylvania, moderated by Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum, with a live audience.
Fox News confirmed the debate would follow similar guidelines to the previous June 27 CNN debate between Trump and Biden.
The news channel invited Trump and Harris to a debate in Pennsylvania in September, which they accepted.
Trump mentioned the debate date was strategically chosen as it falls just before the start of early voting for the presidential election on September 6.
