Super Falcons Remain Africa’s Number One Women’s Team

Nigeria’s Super Falcons have retained their 36th position in the latest FIFA Women’s World Rankings released on Thursday, 12 December 2024.

Despite recording mixed results during the review period, the nine-time African champions maintained their standing on the global stage and their top spot in Africa.

Super Falcons Remain Africa’s Number One Women’s Team

Under the guidance of Justine Madugu, the Falcons secured two  wins against Algeria in a two-legged friendly, winning 2-0 and 4-1.

However, they suffered a  2-1 loss to France’s Les Bleues in another friendly encounter.

On the continental level, Nigeria continues to lead Africa’s rankings, with African champions Banyana Banyana of South Africa in second place. Morocco, Zambia, and Ghana round out the top five teams on the continent.

Globally, the United States maintained their number-one ranking, followed by World Cup winners Spain, who climbed to second.

Germany moved up to third, while England dropped to fourth.
