Bishop Jonas Katung is the founder and general overseer of Living Stone Church Assembly. He wants Christians in the North, and other Nigerians to support President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu in his efforts to serve them.

He urged the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and his Labour Party counterpart, Peter Obi, to allow Tinubu to govern Nigeria for the next four years before challenging him in 2027.

If Given The Chance

Katung told reporters in Jos that “if given the chance, Bola Ahmed Tinubu could provide the correct leadership for the people of Nigeria due to his depth of knowledge in politics and economic concerns.

“Northern bishops met with Tinubu in Abuja at the heat of the country’s political campaigns for the 2023 general elections to ask him questions, and he was able to offer us meaningful answers on the difficulties Christians are facing.”

He said Tinubu informed him of what he would do as president to tackle Nigeria’s challenges if he was elected.

“I believe that if Asiwaju brought people from different backgrounds and faiths into his cabinet for eight years and succeeded in leaving a legacy that subsequent Lagos governors are building on, Tinubu’s achievements will surpass what previous leaders have achieved in the next four years.

“Tinubu is a man with a big heart who will give Nigerians a sense of belonging quickly after assuming power,” he said.

Meanwhile, Bishop Katung told the incoming president to immediately fix structural and compositional imbalances in the military, police, paramilitary forces, and federal civil service in order to give all sectors of Nigeria a sense of belonging.
