“I also have it on good authority that Mr. Peter Obi and Datti Baba-Ahmed have camped some youths in a popular hotel in Abuja with the sole aim of instructing them to push out inciting messages every day on social media,” Keyamo alleges.

The petition was submitted over inciting comments capable of disrupting law and order in Nigeria.

Keyamo filed the petition against the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, and Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, his running mate, on Thursday.

This is coming after Mr Baba-Ahmed claimed that Bola Tinubu, the president-elect, did not meet the constitutional requirements to become Nigeria’s president.

President-elect Tinubu was declared the winner of the 2023 presidential election which Mr Obi contested.

The Petition

In the petition, Keyamo said the post-election comments made by the LP candidates are capable of causing an insurrection against the Nigerian government and the president-elect.

Also, Keyamo, in his petition, claims that Obi and Baba-Ahmed have been hopping from one media house to the other making incendiary comments and claims.

These comments and claims are about the declaration of the president-elect by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Keyamo says.

“These comments and claims are made, not just within the boundaries of exercising their rights to freedom of speech and the freedom to air their grievances publicly.

“But they have since crossed the line to call for the outright truncation of democracy by insisting on the adoption of other processes outside the contemplation of our Constitution.

“In some cases, their privies have even called for the establishment of an interim government”.

Also, he cited Baba-Ahmed’s recent interview on Channels TV.

Keyamo wrote that Baba-Ahmed “threatened that if the President-elect is sworn in on May 29, 2023, it would “signal the end of democracy”.

According to him, Baba-Ahmed was “posing as an accuser, a judge, and a jury all by himself”.

An Obi-Led ‘Syndicate’

Also, Keyamo alleges that the LP flagbearers are running a group of syndicates.

According to him, the alleged syndicates push inciting messages to cause social unrest.

Furthermore, he requested that the DSS should arrest, interrogate, and investigate Obi and Baba-Ahmed, and charge them for “their conduct which amounts to incitement and treasonable felony”.

“I also have it on good authority that Mr. Peter Obi and Datti Baba-Ahmed have camped some youths in a popular hotel in Abuja.

“With the sole aim of instructing them to push out inciting messages everyday on social media in order to cause panic and fear within the federation and to incite people to riot and social unrest,” Keyamo alleges.

Finally, Keyamo notes that the LP flagbearers conduct and utterances are a build-up to something more sinister and it is important to stop them.
