Robert Lewandowski has become Poland’s all-time top scorer in La Liga, after surpassing Jan Urban’s record with his 49th goal.
This impressive feat happened when Lewandowski scored the only goal of the game, securing a 1-0 win for FC Barcelona.
The forward has started the 2024/2024 season in blistering form and seems on pace to exceed his total haul of 19 goals of the previous season.
Robert Lewandowski’s form has been nothing short of impressive since reuniting with Hansi Flick, his old coach at Bayern Munich, at the beginning of the season.
He has scored seven goals this season, tops the scoring charts and bagged two assists.
“I think this season we’re passing and crossing into the area more, and as a centre-forward that’s my zone.”
I can do a lot when I’m in contact with the ball. We’re playing well as a team,” Lewandowski explained.
Coach Flick, delighted at reuniting with his former star striker has hailed the Pole as the greatest centre-forward of the past decade, saying at a recent post-match press conference that: “Lewandowski is, for me, the best No 9 of the past 10 years.
His job is to be in front of goal and in the box and he’s doing really great.”
