Princess of Wales, Catherine, also known as Kate, announced on Friday, March 22, 2024, that she has cancer and is starting chemotherapy.
She asked for “time, space, and privacy” as she goes through treatment.
Kate mentioned that finding out about the cancer, after having successful abdominal surgery in January, was a big shock. However, she said she is feeling well and getting stronger each day.
This news came after royal officials announced in early February that King Charles III was also being treated for cancer, causing him to cancel public events.
Charles expressed his pride in Catherine for speaking out about her cancer, receiving messages of support from UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and the White House.
Similar to Charles, the 42-year-old princess, whose husband is Prince William (the heir to the throne), did not specify the type of cancer she has.
She described the last few months since going into the hospital as “incredibly tough” for her, William, and their three young children.
