About 18 protesters at the Lekki tollgate have been arrested by the Nigerian police operatives on Saturday.
iBrandTV gathered that most of the persons arrested by the Nigerian security operatives are workers going to work.
One of the protesters who spoke to us through the black Maria stationed said: “I am photographer going to work. On getting here, I was arrested.
“I tried asking what was my offense, but did not get any response.”
According to one of the coordinators of #OccupyLekkiTollgate, Kunle Ajayi, who confirmed the arrest, the protesters were detained in a black maria and are about to be taken to an unknown location.
“Police have just arrested 10 protesters – Four ladies and six guys. They were beaten mercilessly and injured,” he said.
It was also confirmed that Juwon Sanya-Olu and one Comrade Dimeji were among the 18 arrested protesters.
It was learnt that some of the protesters have been taken to an unknown location.
In a video, one of the arrested protesters said, “We have been arrested. Over 10 of us. We are kept in a black maria stationed at the toll gate now.”
