Osun Governorship Election: INEC Declares Ademola Adeleke Winner

The Independent National Electoral Commission has declared candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party Senator Ademola Adeleke, winner of Osun State governorship election.

Osun State governor, Gboyega Oyetola, has lost his re-election bid for a second term in office to the candidate of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ademola Adeleke.

Aigboje Ikhuoria reports that Adeleke was declared winer of the contest after defeating the incumbent Governor of the State and candidate of the All Progressives Congress Gboyega Oyetola.

Returning Officer Of The Independent National Electoral Commission and Vice Chancellor UNILAG, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe while declaring Senator Ademola Adeleke winner and governor-elect at the State head office of INEC in Sosogbo appreciated INEC officials who worked very hard to ensure a credible process.

ibrandtv earlier reported that Adeleke won 17 of the 30 local government areas (LGAs) in the State while the incumbent governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Gboyega Oyetola, won the remaining 13 LGAs.
While Adeleke scored a total 403,371 votes in the Saturday, July 16, 2022 Osun Stats governorship election, Governor Oyetola polled 375,027 votes.
