As Nigerians struggle to endure the biting economic situation, MultiChoice Nigeria, the owners of leading cable TV DStv and GOtv, has decided to add to the already heavy burden Nigerians are bearing.
Indeed, the prices of almost everything have increased, even the price of electricity is not left out of the matter.
Nigerians have not fully accepted the reality of the electricity tariff and here comes another financial burden. They have sought for a pay-as-you-go billing system, but the cable network has pushed aside that idea.
The Hike
Now, MultiChoice has announced a fresh increase in the price of its monthly bouquet subscription.
The new price list was published on Wednesday.
It details that the monthly subscription price for Compact Plus, the highest bouquet on DStv, was increased from ₦29,500 to ₦37,000.
Meanwhile, the highest package on GOtv, Supa Plus, was also hiked to ₦15,700 from ₦12,500.
According to sources, the hike will take effect on May 1, 2024.

In November, MultiChoice Nigeria announced an upward review of the bouquet prices of DStv and GOtv.

That announcement was not the first, in fact, it was the third time in 2023.
Now it is coming again.
But whether Nigerians will swallow this new pill, we wait to see.
