The US Trademark Trial and Appeal Board has rejected Mariah Carey’s trademark application for the phrase “Queen of Christmas.”
Mariah’s attempts to secure the rights to “Princess Christmas” and “Christmas Princess” were also unsuccessful.
The singer, who applied for the trademarks in March 2021, received some criticism.
The rejection came on Tuesday, November 15, just days after legends such as Darlene Love and singer Elizabeth Chan pushed back against the filing, arguing that no one should “monopolize” the word “Christmas.”
In her filing, Mariah stated that she intended to use the name for fragrances, lotions, nail polish, jewelry, cups, mugs, chocolate milk, coconut water… as well as ornaments, toys, dog clothing, masks, lingerie, and sweatshirts.
