In what seems to show its readiness for the March 18 Governorship and State Assembly elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the distribution of sensitive and non-sensitive election materials in Lagos State.

The election materials were initially kept with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) ahead of the D-day.

The electoral body, however, retrieved the materials and commenced dispatching the materials across the 20 Local Government Areas of the state.

The materials were billed to be dispatched around 9:00 am on Wednesday March 15, but the exercise started by 11.30 am.

BVAS Configuration

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) completed the re-configuration of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) machines today.

Earlier, an official said, the machines, being sensitive election materials, would be deployed to INEC state offices.

“Afterwards, they would be moved to local governments, wards and polling units (PUs) on election day.

“The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) is leading the airlift of the BVAS machines for the security and smoothness of the operation,” a statement by the electoral body read.
