Justice Bello Kawu, in a ruling, declined Ubah’s request to set aside the earlier order issued in a judgment delivered by the court on April 11, 2019.

Kawu had, in an earlier judgment, sacked Ubah for allegedly submitting a forged National Examination Council (NECO) certificate, to contest the February 23, 2019 senatorial election.

The judge also ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to withdraw the certificate of return issued to Ubah.

Kawu directed that a fresh one be issued to Dr. Obinna Uzoh of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who came second at the election.

Ihedioha: Blame INEC for Supreme Court ruling declaring Hope Uzodinma Imo gov – APC chieftain

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Mr Peter Esele, on Friday said the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) should take all the blame for the verdict of the Supreme Court on the Imo governorship election.

Esele, a former President of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, made the declaration while speaking in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Benin.

He argued that Nigerians should look beyond the controversy of the judgement and appraise its foundation.

The activist noted that the judgement underscored the inefficiency and ineptitude of INEC.

According to him, the governorship election, held on March 9, 2019 in Imo should not have been held in the first place because so much irregularities were reported during the election.

Esele said that in view of the reported irregularities, one would have expected INEC to have cancelled the election and have a proper election conducted.

“INEC did not do its job properly so that is why Supreme Court judges are intervening.”

The APC stalwart stressed that for the Supreme Court to have a unanimous decision over a matter or election, it means the election was badly conducted.

“So what has happened in Imo State is enough for the INEC chairman to resign if Nigeria is a sane clime where things are done properly.

“Whoever is aggrieved has to accept it because the Supreme Court is the highest court in the land,” said Esele.

It also said the alleged miscarriage of Justice was not only against the PDP but the people of Nigeria.

These resolutions were made at the end of the party’s 87th National Executive Council Emergency Meeting held at the main opposition party’s headquarters in Abuja.

PDP said, “This s a miscarriage of Justice. Justice will come under God Almighty. But we must work, we must speak out, otherwise, it means we have consented to the injustice from the ruling party, APC”.

However, the party’s 2019 presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar remarked, “Our great party and G34 fought and brought Democracy to the country.

“Our party governed very well from 1999 to 2015. As true Democrats, we handed over power to the ruling party, hoping that it will deepen democracy but, alas, we have been disappointed.

The presidential candidate, therefore, proposed a committee to review what happened at the last general election and make necessary recommendations.

He said the roles of INEC and security agencies should not be taken for granted for that will be the end of the struggles of the founding fathers of the party.

He added, “It is our duty to reincarnate the struggles they made that brought the democracy that APC is enjoying”.

It was on this premise, that Atiku proposed that the party leaders go to speak to Nigerians on the state of the nation and party.

Also, the Board of Trustees Chairman, BOT, Senator Walid Jubrin said: “The party has not fully recovered from what the judiciary has done to the people of Nigeria not only PDP but to the people of Nigeria.

“Nigeria is getting to an end if we continue with this exercise this way. He said that Nigeria is at ‘war’.

But Prof. ABC Nwosu said the PDP needed to have a programmed opposition.

He added, “The legacy of PDP is not GSM, it is not G34. It is democracy. We are on the road to unfreedom, heading to tyranny.

At the meeting, DAILY POST observed that apart from former Governor Emeka Ihedioha, other governors of the party from the southern part of the country were conspicuously absent.

Solskjaer said he will give Rashford and Maguire time before deciding whether they will be fit to face Jurgen Klopp’s side at Anfield.

Rashford sustained a back injury during Man United’s FA Cup 1-0 victory over Wolves some few days ago, while Maguire is yet to regain full fitness after recovering from injury.

Asked if he will play Rashford in Sunday’s clash, Solskjaer was quoted by Man United’s official website as telling reporters on Friday at his pre-match press conference: “I can’t tell you now.

“As I said with Harry [Maguire] a few weeks ago, of course we’re going to give him the absolute amount of time to find out.

“We’re going to do some more checks and treatment with him today. Yesterday of course was just a recovery day anyway and some treatment for him.

“I haven’t seen him this morning, but I’m not going to hold my breath. I would probably think that he wouldn’t be ready, but let’s see. There’s still 48 hours, more than that, so let’s see.”

The kick-off time for the match 5:30pm.

He also wants the 22-year-old to forget about reports linking him with a move to Barcelona.

Brown said this ahead of Man United’s Premier League clash against Liverpool on Sunday evening at Anfield.

Asked if he fears Rashford leaving Man United amid interest from Barcelona, Brown told Metro UK: “Not a chance. He’s been at United for many, many years and he’s home-grown.

“He’s playing some excellent football and just made his 200th appearance. He’s scored more goals at this stage of his career than some of the top players in history,” Brown told Metro UK.

“Marcus is a Manchester United player. He will only want to help the club and improve as a player.

“He’s at that stage now where if he can continue like this, he does come into the greatest of all time bracket for United so I’m sure that’s what he’s thinking about.”

The US president has been under attack following decisions made without the consent of the countries parliament

In a tweet suggesting why he is under fire from the congress, Trump said; “I just got impeached for making a perfect phone call,”

Recall that Trump was on December 18, 2019, impeached by the House of Representatives, for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress related to his dealings with Ukraine.

If this happens, Trump will be joining two former American presidents — Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton — who were impeached but saved by the Senate.

However, Trump’s trial had begun in the US Senate on Thursday, starting with a reading of charges against the US President.

John Roberts, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, was then sworn in to preside over the trial that will determine whether Trump should be removed from office.

“All persons are commanded to keep silent, on pain of imprisonment, while the House of Representatives is exhibiting to the Senate of the United States, the articles of impeachment against Donald John Trump, President of the United States,” the sergeant at arms announced.
