The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has instructed the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) to relocate suspended athlete Cynthia Ogunsemilore from the Games Village.
According to Tony Nezianya, media attaché of Team Nigeria, the IOC’s directive is a response to Ogunsemilore’s current situation.
The female boxer was provisionally suspended on Sunday due to an out-of-competition doping violation.
Ogunsemilore, a 60kg female boxer, was subjected to an out-of-competition doping control test which resulted in an Adverse Analytical Finding (AAF) for the presence of furosemide.
This substance is prohibited by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) at all times and is classified as a “Specified Substance”.
The International Testing Agency (ITA), on behalf of the IOC, notified Ogunsemilore of the AAF on Sunday and imposed a provisional suspension with immediate effect.
As a result, the Team Nigeria management will cooperate with the IOC and other relevant bodies to ensure Ogunsemilore is moved out of the Games Village.
The relocation is in compliance with the IOC’s directive, and the NOC will work to ensure the athlete is removed from the Games Village.
