Speculation is rife over the paternity of Light Aloba, son of late Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, and many are calling for a DNA test. Is Omowunmi truly married to Mohbad?Â
Since the death of Mohbad, a former member of Marlian Records, Nigerians have been speculating over what the cause of his death could be.
The primary suspect has been Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley. This is because Marley and his associates assaulted Mohbad on several occasions while he was signed to the label.
Mohbad joined Marlian Records in 2019 after Marley found his music interesting. The pair went on to create memorable music together, but it was not all rosy.
In 2022, they parted ways after Mohbad complained of constant harassment and assault.
Since his death, Marley and Sam Larry, one of his associates, have been fingered as prime suspects. But many are now calling for a third name to be thrown into the mix. This is Omowunmi Aloba.
Known to the public as Mohbad’s wife, very little is known about 24-year-old Omowunmi.

For starters, is she really his wife? When did they get married? Was there a ceremony that did not go public? Was she just a random baby mama every other artiste keeps?
Mohbad’s father described her as his son’s wife, and everyone who happened to know them both have also described her as his wife,
Hewever, several people have faulted this claim. Some have called for a DNA test to confirm the paternity of Light Aloba, Mohbad’s five-month-old son.
Was Omowunmi Married To Mohbad?Â
IBrandTV scoured the internet for any material that could indicate the couple held a wedding ceremony, but we found none.
We reviewed a publication Omowunmi made on her Instagram page on September 12 after Mohbad died, and we found that she said in the post that they earlier had a secret wedding ceremony.
When you consider the wording of her post, it all begins to make sense. There are no records of the ceremony because it was a secret wedding done in an unknown location at an unknown date.
She also said Mohbad made her a wife at a time when most celebrities don’t get married.
We also scanned through their social media pages and saw that Omowunmi had only one post on her Instagram, but Mohbad had 51. The earliest post on Mohbad’s Instagram, however, was a video posted on November 6, 2022.
At the time Mohbad posted this video, Omowunmi would have been four months pregnant considering their son was birthed in April 2023.
This means that as of July 2022, Omowunmi was already pregnant with their child. Whether the couple were married at this time or not remains unknown as all social media posts from that time have been deleted.
Huge Royalties In Death
With the findings we gathered, we can assume the couple were married, but we can’t establish when and where.
However, many believe that a DNA test will lay every speculation about the paternity of the child to rest.
If they are at all married, only Mohbad’s family are entitled to making the request to be sure.
Mohbad is one is such artistes whose death opens door to wealth for his family.
Right now, more royalties are coming to Mohbad in death and someone, apparently his son, should get the benefits.
This is one reason people are dragging his wife to the mix of suspects in the controversial death of the afrobeat star.
Right now, the police are investigating, and arrests have been made. Also, an autopsy result is being awaited to ascertain the cause of death.
