It’s been barely two weeks since the gubernatorial election in Kogi State where election evidence of violence was swept under the carpet.
And now gunmen are on the rampage, attacking the Independent National Electoral Commission.
Some unknown gunmen have attacked the residence of a Resident Electoral Commissioner in Kogi State.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) revealed this via its official X page formerly known as Twitter.
INEC said at about 3 a.m. on Friday, some unknown gunmen attacked the residence of our Kogi REC.
The gunmen were said to have engaged the sucurity operatives at the residence in a fierce gun battle for over 30 minutes.
But the arrival of reinforcement destabilized the attackers who later fled.
It was also revealed that while no lives were lost, properties were destroyed.
This incident occurred just a day after the INEC headquarters in Lokoja, Kogi State was besieged by a mob.
The mob made sure that all entrance into the INEC headquarters were blocked denying those who wanted to enter the building of access.
