I’m From A Respectful Family – Davido

Afrobeats superstar, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has recently spoken out to clarify misconceptions about his upbringing and family background.

Contrary to what some people may believe, Davido emphasised that he hails from a well-respected family.

She dismissed any notions that his occasional public missteps as a celebrity reflect poorly on his upbringing.

During a courtesy visit to the Olu of Warri in Delta State on Saturday, Davido addressed the issue directly.

He stated: “I was raised by great parents. I come from a very respectful family. But sometimes, as OBO [a celebrity and public figure], I may act out of place”.

This clarification follows recent remarks from fellow Afrobeats star, Wizkid, who appeared to take a subtle jab at Davido’s family in a social media post.

Wizkid, in a cryptic message on his X handle, suggested that some individuals were not raised with the same family values as others.

He made a reference to Davido’s uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, who has earned the nickname “Dancing Governor” due to his many viral dance videos.

Wizkid wrote: “When you see people who have been properly raised by their father and family, you will know! You won’t catch my uncle dancing online!”.

This was widely interpreted as a swipe at Davido’s family, particularly referencing Governor Adeleke’s fondness for dancing in public.

Davido’s response, however, indicates his pride in his family and upbringing.
