To get your NYSC certificate, you need to sign up for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme.

However, there are a number of prerequisites that graduates with foreign training must meet before and during the NYSC registration process in order to be permitted to serve in Nigeria.

NYSC Requirements For Nigeria Foreign-Trained Graduates

1.     Academic Qualification 

For registration and mobilisation of graduates with foreign training into the National Youth Service Corps, the originals and photocopies of the academic qualification documents are needed.

Complete official transcription of the HND or first degree course grade sheet (applicable to universities only in India).

O’level certificate, such as the WASC, GCE, SSCE, NECO, IGCE, GCSE, or high school diploma for students who attended school in the USA or any foreign country with five (5) credits including Mathematics and English in not more than two (2) sittings.

Please note that persons who did a ‘Top up’ programme/Course are required to upload their foundation Certificate. For example, APTECH, OND, NIIT, INFORMATICTS, etc.

Medical doctors and optometrists are required to produce in addition, evidence of completion of housemanship. Also, registration certificate with the medical and dental council of Nigeria/Optometrists Association of Nigeria as applicable,

Pharmacists shall produce in addition, evidence of completion of internship and registration certificate with Pharmacists council of Nigeria.

Also, nurses are to present original Licence and Certificate of registration with the Nursing/Midwifery Council of Nigeria.

Medical Laboratory Scientists are also to present their Licence and certificate of registration with Medical Laboratory Scientists Council of Nigeria.

Note that downloaded Certificates/Transcripts, Statement of result and Attestation letters are not acceptable.

2. Travel Documents

Nigeria foreign-trained graduates should provide an international passport showing the Entry visa to the country of study and first Departure Date from Nigeria.

It should also show the date of return to Nigeria after the period of study and date page of the passport.

Graduates who have dual citizenship must Upload the data pages of both passports and bring them in person to the camp for verification.

Furthermore, where more than one international Passports were used during the period of study, candidates should upload Data Pages of the International Passports.

In the event of loss of international passport, a prospective Corps Member is expected to obtain Police and Immigration reports from the country where the Passport got missing, a copy of Sworn affidavit, evidence of stay in country of study and a New International Passport.

Personal Data page of the newly obtained International Passport must be uploaded.

3. Translation Of Foreign language

Before presenting a non-English certificate to the NYSC, it must be translated at the embassy of the country of study or a Nigerian university where the language is taught.

Note that physical verification of all credentials uploaded by foreign Graduates will take place at the Orientation Camp.

Foreign graduates who are Exempted from Service must present all academic credentials and International Passport uploaded for physical verification at the Evaluation Division, Corps Mobilisation Department, National youth Service Corps, National Directorate Headquarters, Abuja before Exemption Certificate is issued.

Tips To Guide Foreign-Trained Graduates During NYSC Registration

  1. Please visit https://portal.nysc.org.ng/nysc1/ForeignReq.aspx for the Mobilisation Process requirements for graduates from abroad.
  2. Do not create multiple accounts.
  3. Upload original copies of all your documentation, and be sure to enter your name exactly as it appears on your certificate.
  4. No matter where you are, you can register, but you must get your fingerprints taken in Nigeria before attending to orientation camp.
  5. In order to get an evaluation letter for your institution of study, get in touch with the Federal Ministry of Education in Abuja. Submit the evaluation letter To NYSC NDHQ Abuja.
  6. You should be aware that the SSCE result you upload must be equal to or older than four (4) years.
  7. When registering online, choose a centre for pre-camp physical verification.
  8. After successfully registering online, all foreign-trained graduates must physically appear, along with authentic copies of their degree diplomas, transcripts, and travel passports.
  9. Print your Clearance Slip and bring it with you to register at the various camps of deployment if your credentials were physically validated at the different locations during the Pre-Camp Verification Exercise. Original copies of your credentials must also be brought.
  10. Also, bring the translated version of your certificate with you to camp.
  11. You must pick up your Exemption Certificate at NYSC NDHQ Abuja if you are exempted from service.
