This is how police in Imo State rescued Kidnapped INEC staff on the day of the governorship/State Assembly elections.
On Friday, a day before the governorship elections, some 19 staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) deployed to Imo State, were upbeat about the election.
They were not aware the insecurity in the nation would catch up with them, while delivering national duties.
They had set off in the morning on Saturday, hoping to arrive at their designated polling units as early as possible.
But they were not aware they would not get to their proposed destination.
On their way to seven different polling units in Ugbelie ward 06 in Ideato South LGA of Imo state, they were accosted by armed men who took them captive.
After they were taken, a distress call was made, with information about the kidnapped INEC staff reaching the electoral body.
Confirming the incident, a spokesperson for the INEC, Chinenye Chijioke-Osuji, said the issue was immediately reported to security operatives.

They swung into action to rescue the kidnapped INEC staff.
Hours after, police operatives in Imo State rescued the 19 INEC Ad-Hoc staff.
However, police could not retrieve the election materials with the kidnappers.
The officials were taken along with the 19 INEC ad-hoc staff.
