Chelsea boss, Mauricio Pochettino, knows that his job is on the line, and he has decided to change the shape of his team as a last-ditch effort.
The Argentine manager took over at Stamford Bridge at the start of the season, however, the relationship has not worked out as Todd Boehly would have hoped so far.
To change his fortunes, Pochettino is now considering abandoning his preferred 4-2-3-1 system since Chelsea is mired in 11th place and the season could end in a sacking if results do not follow.
As per the Evening Standard, a three-man defence is seen to offer more defensive stability to a club that has conceded four goals in back-to-back Premier League losses to Wolves and Liverpool.
The veteran defender Thiago Silva, who was left dangerously exposed when Wolves ran wild at Stamford Bridge, would also have better protection because of the system tweak.
The physically not-very-strong midfield combo of Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez, who are struggling, would also have greater cover from an extra defender behind them.

Ben Chilwell and Malo Gusto would have greater freedom to play as wing-backs rather than full-backs in the system.
“We can’t give up and we are going to work hard to try and change.
“Maybe take some decisions to find a different way,” Pochettino said after the game against Wolves.
“If it is not working this way, we need to move on and try to find a different type of solution.”
