Frances Tiafoe, the 24-year old put on the performance of his career Monday to knock 22-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal out of the U.S. Open 6-4, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3.
Tiafoe advances to the quarterfinals of a major for just the second time in his career and first since the 2019 Australian Open.
Where he will face No. 9 seed Andrey Rublev in the quarterfinals on Wednesday.
“It was definitely one hell of a performance,” Tiafoe said. “I played really well today, and I guess just came out there and believed I could do it.
