The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has scored the conduct of the 2023 governorship and State House of Assembly elections.
In the just concluded presidential election of February 25, Atiku lost to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Now, three weeks after that election, the electoral body has got another opportunity to impress Nigerians.
For the PDP presidential flag bearer, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is still performing below expectations.
He addressed reporters on Saturday after he cast his vote in Ajiya ward, Yola north LGA of Adamawa state.
A ‘Discredited Organisation’
The former vice president expresses his dismay over the reported low voter turnout in the state.
Unlike the presidential election, low turnout has been recorded in several areas across the country.

Atiku also says he is not confident that the electoral body will transmit results electronically from polling units.
One of the reasons people are not showing such enthusiasm in the election is because of INEC’s failure to keep its promise in the presidential election.
The electoral umpire did not transmit the results of the presidential election electronically as it had promised.
“It is still below expectations,” the former vice president said.
“Honestly, INEC is already a discredited organisation, let’s hope they will improve on their past performance.
“I’m not quite hopeful (that results will be transmitted).
“I have not seen measures they have taken to improve their past performances.”
Mr Atiku is currently challenging Mr Tinubu’s victory in the presidential polls.
Sadly, there’s a low voter turnout in today’s election, no thanks to INEC’s partisanship and incompetence that delivered a sham election on February 25. I hope the electoral body will seize this second chance to redeem its discredited reputation. -AA pic.twitter.com/3w2QUZ6HJE
