The former VC had been found guilty of a five-count charge bordering on forgery and obtaining money through false pretense.

Finding the case of prosecution satisfactory and proven beyond reasonable doubt the judge pronounced the defendant guilty of all the charges made against him.

The trial judge then proceeded to sentence the defendant to 35 years in prison.

For the counts 1-3 made against him, the court sentenced him to seven years in prison for each count, without a fine option, and seven years in prison for counts 4 and 5, with an option of N10 million fine for each.
