
President Buhari will depart for the Islamic Republic of Mauritania on Monday January 16, to receive the ‘Africa Award for Strengthening Peace’.
According to a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, the award would be given to the President for his leadership role in promoting peace on the continent through regular interventions, counsel, and a conciliatory position.
The presidential spokesperson stated that the award was established in 2014 by the Abu Dhabi Peace Forum to promote inclusive citizenship and peace. He also stated that the President will deliver a speech on the African Peace Process at the Third Forum of the African Conference for Peace.
He said the President will be accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama; Minister of Defence, Bashir Salihi Magashi; National Security Adviser, Mohammed Monguno; and Director General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ahmed Rufai Abubakar.
