Afrobeats superstar Davido has sparked discussions with his claim that many of the finest doctors in the United States are of Nigerian descent.
He made this statement during an appearance on the Afric TV programme, where he praised the significant contributions of Africans to professional and creative industries on a global scale.
Davido commended the intellectual and creative brilliance of Africans.
He highlighted their increasing impact across various sectors.
“The best doctors in America are Nigerians. You can look it up,” he remarked
Also, he celebrated the innovative contributions of Africans to the music and film industries.
He emphasised their growing influence on global narratives.
“Even in my record label [Sony Music], Africans bring the best ideas. It shows our imagination is off the charts,” he said.
The singer further noted the heightened interest from Western entertainment platforms in African storytelling.
He cited companies like Netflix and Amazon Prime, which are actively sourcing film concepts from the continent.
“Netflix and Amazon Prime come to Africa to get movie ideas. Now, when you check Netflix, you’ll find about two Nigerian films in the top 10,” he stated.
Davido expressed confidence in Africa’s potential to dominate global industries.
“Africa is next, trust me. I feel like we’ve got everything, but we’re just missing a few pieces,” he said.
