It is a day of celebration for the people of Benue State. They are about to experience the leadership of a Catholic Priest, as their governor for the second time in their history.
The people of Benue are happy because the first priest that governed the state left remarkable footprints and till date, he is still regarded as the best governor of the state.
The state beams with hope, as many cannot wait to experience the governance of the priest.
However, we can not say same for the Catholic Church. They have been against Reverend Father Alia’s political ambitions.
Certificate Of Return
Today, March 29, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), presented the Certificate of Return to the Benue State Governor-elect, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia.
INEC National Commissioner for Voter Education and Publicity, Festus Okoye, presented the certificate to the governor-elect.
The presentation on Wednesday was held at the Commission’s head office in Markurdi, the state capital.
Alia’s Victory
Following the development, supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) stormed the streets of Markurdi to express happiness over the authentication of Alia’s victory.

However, many persons wonder what the reaction of the Catholic Church would be towards the development.
The priest, who was suspended by the Catholic Church prior to the general elections, won the March 18 gubernatorial poll in the state against all odds.
