Arsenal forward Jesus had to be stretchered off in the 40th minute of the Gunners’ FA Cup penalty shootout loss to Manchester United after the Brazilian suffered a knee injury after clashing with Red Devils captain Bruno Fernandes.

Arteta has now provided a worrying update on the 27-year-old’s issue that may increase pressure on the club to dip into the transfer market this month.

The Big Worry

Speaking to the media, Arteta said: “Big worry, that’s my feeling.

“He had to come off on a stretcher with a lot of pain, touching his knee.

“It’s not looking good.”

When asked if Jesus had hurt the same knee he had struggled with last season, the Spaniard added: “No, I think it’s the other one.

“The worrying factor is the feeling that he had.

“When he had to come off and the pain that he was in.”

Arsenal dominated the majority of the game against Manchester United but failed to take their chances as Altay Bayindir, barring one mistake, had the Red Devils’ goal on lockdown.

Extreme Sadness

However, Arteta claimed that the loss was extremely sad for him and his players.

He added: “Incredible how you don’t win that game, that’s basically to sum up.

“The dominance, the superiority in relation to the opposition and everything that we did to try to win the game and that’s it we didn’t get what we deserved clearly.

“But there is an element that is about putting the ball in the back of the net that we did once and the amount of situations chances, penalties that we had we didn’t.

“We go home extremely sad but I cannot be prouder of my players, the team, the individual collectively what they produced on Wednesday against two top teams it’s incredible.

“But we haven’t got rewarded and that’s the downside too.”

Arteta did not offer any insight into what the issue with Jesus is specifically and it is likely that the Brazilian will undergo tests on Monday morning to determine the extent of the injury and how long the recovery may take.

However, It is not the news fans would have wanted to hear with the north London derby next up.
