Arsenal’s captain, Martin Odegaard, is set to miss several weeks of action due to an ankle injury sustained while on international duty with Norway.
The midfielder twisted his ankle in Norway’s Nations League match against Austria earlier this month, and subsequent scans revealed significant ligament damage.
Manager Mikel Arteta confirmed the severity of the injury, stating, “We’re going to lose him for a while.”
While Arteta refrained from providing a specific timeline, Norway’s team doctor estimated a minimum recovery period of three weeks.
Odegaard’s absence will be deeply felt, particularly in Arsenal’s upcoming Champions League opener against Atalanta and Sunday’s Premier League clash with reigning champions Manchester City.
The Gunners currently sit second in the early Premier League table, two points behind Man City.
