After a court ruling, the former Minister of the Niger Delta Development Commission Godswill Akpabio has emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate for the North-West Senatorial District of the state.
Justice Emeka Nwite of the federal high court sitting in Abuja on Thursday, declared Godswill Akpabio fit to contest at the forthcoming general elections.
Justice Nwite ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to accept Akpabio as the authentic candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the North-West Senatorial District of the state.
The court held that INEC acted illegally by refusing to accept and publish Akpabio’s name even when it was sent to it by the APC as its candidate.
