Kogi State will soon conduct a governorship election, but the current governor is envisaging there will be fake news flying around, as the day for the process draws near.

Now, the state government says Governor Yahaya Bello has succeeded in building the state into what politics cannot balkanize.
According to the state government, he had achieved this through his actions, projects, appointments and unifying leadership credentials.
But it is also issuing a warning to residents of the state concerning a game plan to fan the flames of ethnic resentment, division, and hatred.
It says agents of political desperation are bent on destroying the state’s unity and peace.
The public alert is contained in a statement issued and signed on Sunday by the state’s Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo.
A United State
Fanwo’s statement read: “Their unintelligent approach has been to push ethnically divisive words, and attribute the same to Governor Yahaya Bello in order to incite certain ethnic groups against his person and his administration.
“These statements are not only false but also an ignominy of dragging our state back to the conquered era of ethnic chauvinism.

“We remain a united and prosperous state.
“We urge members of the public to be on the lookout for and ignore those who spread falsehoods”.
He advised them to report those who do so to law enforcement agencies, saying it was clearly the work of politicians who do not care about the state’s interests.
The statement added that “Governor Yahaya Bello will continue to work hard until his last day in office to improve livelihood in the state, keep the people united.
“He will serve all Kogites regardless of religion, ethnicity, or political beliefs. What binds us together is more powerful than the desperate wishes of the state’s enemies”.
