The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Malam Muhammad Bello, has ordered the arrest of officials of the Federal Housing Authority and a developer in relation to the collapse of a two-storey building in Abuja.

The Coordinator, Abuja Metropolitan Management Council, Umar Shuaibu, disclosed this development to journalists during a briefing on Saturday.

The minister ordered the arrest of the FHA officers saddled with monitoring the development, in charge of granting the development permit, the developer, and the engineer supervising the development, for manslaughter.

The incident happened around noon on Thursday afternoon, as the uncompleted building collapsed at 6th Avenue in Gwarimpa Estate.

Personnel of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and others were immediately at the scene to rescue the trapped persons.

24 persons were trapped in the collapse with three confirmed dead and 21 persons have been rescued.
