Akindele, has built a successful career in Nigerian cinema, consistently pleasing local audiences despite the increasing influence of global streaming platforms.
She has chosen to focus on stories that resonate with Nigerian viewers rather than catering to Western tastes.
Throughout her career, starting with the lead role in the Jenifa franchise, one of Nigeria’s most significant movie series over a decade ago, Akindele has set box office records.
Her movies like “Battle on Buka Street” earned over ₦668 million, and “Omo Ghetto: The Saga” made over ₦636 million.
In recent years, particularly with “A Tribe Called Judah,” Akindele has been telling stories that address the ethnic divisions in Nigeria.
This focus on societal issues became prominent in 2023, a year marked by intense elections and heightened public awareness of these topics.
