‘They Must Face The Law’ — Mohbad’s Father Pushes For Trial Of Daughter-in-law, Nurse, And Suspects

Joseph Aloba, father of the late Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has called on the Lagos State Government to prosecute his son’s widow, Omowunmi Aloba.

He also asked that other individuals indicted in connection with the artiste’s death.

The demand was made in a petition addressed to the state’s Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Lawal Pedro (SAN), and signed by Aloba’s counsel, Wahab Shittu (SAN).

In the letter, Aloba specifically requested the prosecution of Feyisayo Ogedengbe, the auxiliary nurse who administered an injection to the singer shortly before his death in September 2023.

Also, he  urged that others present in Mohbad’s apartment at the time of the incident

The petition referenced the Coroner’s verdict delivered in July 2025 by Magistrate Taofikat Shotobi,

Also, the petition described the nurse’s actions as both “unlawful and professionally negligent,”

It cited her administration of medication without a doctor’s prescription.

Also, magistrate Shotobi also faulted Mohbad’s wife for choosing to treat her husband at home instead of taking him to a hospital.

Despite these findings, Aloba’s legal team expressed concern that over two months have passed since the Coroner’s ruling without any criminal charges being filed.

Our client, as a bereaved father who seeks justice, is deeply troubled that despite the clear indictments in the Coroner’s verdict, no prosecutorial steps have been taken since July 11, 2025,” the letter stated.

Furthermore, Shittu further urged the Attorney-General to commence prosecution within 14 days.

He cited the high sensitivity and public interest surrounding the case.

Also, he added that should the state decline to act, his legal team should be granted formal authorization to prosecute the matter on behalf of the state under the Administration of Criminal Justice Law of Lagos State.
