She was killed during a robbery attack at her residence in Katampe, Abuja, leaving the media industry and viewers devastated.

President Bola Tinubu has condemned the killing, describing it as cruel and unacceptable.

In a statement, he directed security agencies to launch a thorough investigation and ensure that the perpetrators are caught and brought to justice.

The President also extended heartfelt condolences to Somtochukwu’s family, her colleagues at ARISE News, and the wider media community, noting that she was a promising journalist whose life was tragically cut short.

Her death has sparked outrage across the country. Reports claim that she survived a fall while trying to escape the robbers but later died after being denied urgent medical attention.

This revelation has stirred public anger, raising fresh concerns about both insecurity and the state of emergency healthcare in Nigeria.

Political leaders and public figures have also joined in mourning her loss.

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu described the incident as “painful and unfortunate,” while others called for swift justice and better protection for journalists.
