Davido, one of Africa’s leading Afrobeats stars, has paused his music career for two months and shifted his focus to politics in Osun State.

He announced the decision on Tuesday in Ede during the inauguration of the Imole Youth Campaign Mobilisation Team, which supports the re-election of his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
Speaking to supporters, Davido moved from his usual stage presence into a campaign role.
Davido To Go On Two Month Carrier Break
He said he chose this step not only because of family ties but also because he believes the governor has more work to complete for the people of Osun State.
For the next two months, he will focus less on music studios and more on mobilising support for Adeleke’s second-term bid.
He told the crowd that the campaign must reach people at the grassroots.
He urged team members to move beyond formal meetings and engage voters directly in their communities.

Grassroots Mobilisation Push
He stressed that every local area matters and that voters need clear information about what the administration has achieved and what it still plans to deliver.
He also highlighted the importance of the youth-focused committee, saying young people will play a decisive role in the election.
Davido encouraged members to speak directly with residents in their constituencies and explain the governor’s programmes in simple, clear terms.
The mobilisation team brings together representatives from several federal constituencies across Osun State, including Osogbo, Ife, Ijesha South and North, Ila, Ifelodun, Ede/Ejigbo, Irewole, and Iwo.
For now, Davido has stepped out of the music spotlight and into active political mobilisation, where he now leads efforts to strengthen support for his uncle’s re-election campaign.
