Grammy-winning Nigerian singer, Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has reached another groundbreaking milestone, this time, not in music, but in the world of sports.
The globally celebrated artist has officially joined Major League Soccer (MLS) side San Diego FC’s ownership group as a club partner.
However, this marks her as the first African woman to hold an ownership stake in an MLS club.
San Diego FC (SDFC) made the announcement.
They confirms that Tems joined the club’s ownership group through her company, The Leading Vibe.
The partnership represents a fusion of music, culture, and sports.

Also, this further cements Tems’ influence beyond the entertainment industry.
Speaking on the significance of this new addition, SDFC Chairman Sir Mohamed Mansour expressed his enthusiasm:
“We are delighted that Tems has joined San Diego FC as a club partner. Tems is a globally significant artist who will help us reach new audiences and spread the word about our unique project, which, of course, has its foundations in sub-Saharan Africa through the unique Right to Dream organisation.”
