Life can change in an instant, and for some, what starts as an ordinary day can quickly turn into a nightmare.
Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers stormed the Chikakore area of Kubwa, located in the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, early Monday morning.
The Attack
Eyewitnesses reported that the gunmen, armed with sophisticated weapons, arrived in large numbers, spreading panic throughout the neighbourhood.
The assailants kidnapped four residents during the attack.
A security official in the area confirmed the abductions, saying, “the attack happened this morning, but for now, we can only confirm the abduction of four persons.”
Gunmen Disguised As Vigilante
The FCT Police spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, disclosed that the kidnappers disguised themselves as vigilante members to gain access to their targets.
“They targeted a family of four,” Adeh stated.
“A neighbour who tried to intervene suffered injuries and was rushed to Kubwa General Hospital for treatment.”
Adeh explained: “On 27th January 2025, at about 1:00 am, the FCT Police Command received a distress call reporting abduction and assault in the Chikakore community.

Police Rescue Operations Begin
However, the police have launched a search and rescue operation to recover the victims and capture the perpetrators.
“We urge the Chikakore community and the public to remain calm and vigilant,” Adeh added.
“Any useful information that can aid the investigation or rescue mission should be immediately reported to the police.”
