The Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency has arrested a drug kingpin, Wasiu Sanni Gbolahan popularly known as Teacher, in Lagos.

This was revealed in a statement signed by the agency’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, on Sunday.

The kingpin who resided in the Ikorodu area of Lagos, was notorious for recruiting mules for drug barons in Lagos and it’s environs.

A 56-year-old trafficker, Lawal Lateef Oyenuga, was arrested on his way to deliver 400 grams of Class A drugs concealed in a pair of palm sandals.

Following his arrest, Oyenuga fingered Teacher as the brain behind the cocaine syndicate.

The NDLEA’s statement partly reads, “ In his statement, Oyenuga claimed he was recruited to traffic the drug my Wasiu Sanni Gbolahan popularly known as Teacher, adding that he was first given some pellets of cocaine to swallow by when he couldn’t do that, then he was given the ones concealed in palm sandals. He said he resorted to the criminal trade to raise money to pay an examination fee for his daughter who is in Senior Secondary School class 3.”

NDLEA revealed that Wasiu Sanni had been linked to previous attempts to traffic cocaine to Saudi Arabia and Dubai, UAE.
