According to reports, the country currently generates only 0.80 megawatts of electricity.
Via the website of the Independent System Operator, an autonomous arm of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), it was observed that the power plants’ contribution to the grid started to decrease around 2pm, dropping to 2,797.16MW from the average of 3,417.99MW around 1pm.

Sadly, this marks the fourth power grid collapse in 2024.
On Monday, April 15, 2024, a huge portion of the Nigerian national grid collapsed, throwing Nigerians in total darkness.
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), blamed the collapse of the national grid on a fire incident at the Afam power station.
One cannot help but wonder why the frequent collapse?
Because, when a nation’s power grid becomes comfortable with collapsing frequently, then something must be wrong.
