No More Power, Flight In Imo State – NLC, TUC

If you are in Imo State or know someone living in the state, then you may need to brace up send a message of hope to them that tough days are ahead. This will be some of the many effects of the fresh directive passed by Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) to its members.

Fuel Subsidy: NLC, TUC Suspend Nationwide Strike

The Organised labour has ordered the shutdown of electricity and fuel supplies in Imo State.

It was a decision reached by the organised labour unions after the brutalisation of the National President of the NLC, Joe Ajaero.

Also, the NLC and TUC on Tuesday gave a directive to aviation workers.

They are to ensure that flights in and out of the state were suspended.

Extraordinary Meeting

These decisions were reached at the extraordinary National Executive Council meeting summoned by the labour unions on Tuesday afternoon.

A statement was released at the end of the meeting.

It read: “The NEC-in-session orders the immediate withdrawal of services and shutdown of Imo State beginning midnight today.

“All workers and affiliates are expected to ensure compliance from wherever they are.

Other Plans

“All flights into and out of Imo state, fuel supplies and Electricity be stopped immediately as applicable. All Public and Private Sector workers are to immediately down tools indefinitely”.

Furthermore, the implementation commences at midnight, November 8, 2023.

The organised labour unions also declared a total nationwide strike which will commence next Tuesday, November 14, 2023.
