CKay has etched his name into global music history after his chart-topping hit Love Nwantiti (Ah Ah Ah) became the first solo Nigerian song to surpass 1 billion streams on Spotify.

The 2019 breakout track gained worldwide traction through multiple remixes and viral TikTok trends.

It has now officially entered Spotify’s prestigious 1 Billion Stream Club.

This solidifies CKay as the first solo male African artist to achieve this remarkable feat.

Expressing his excitement, the singer celebrated the achievement on X, writing:
“First solo Nigerian song to cross 1 billion streams. Grateful to God and the people involved in this historic success! Thank you for streaming.”

Before CKay’s historic moment, Wizkid became the first African act to enter the Spotify Billion Club in 2017 through his collaboration with Drake on One Dance.

This is a track that went on to set a Guinness World Record as the first song to hit 1 billion streams on the platform.

Also breaking continental barriers, Rema became the first African lead artiste to surpass 1 billion streams with the global smash remix of Calm Down featuring Selena Gomez

Meanwhile, South African star Tyla earned her place in the record books as the first African female artiste in the 1 Billion Club, thanks to her viral sensation Water.
