Afrobeats superstar Davido has honoured the memory of his late colleague Sound Sultan in the visuals for his hit single 10 Kilo.
The music video, directed by Director Pink.
It features poignant scenes with a backdrop displaying Sound Sultan’s picture, alongside vibrant shots of plus-size models dancing in front of the tribute banner.
The creative choice serves as both a nod to Sultan’s legacy and a celebration of body positivity.
Davido’s 10 Kilo pays homage to plus-size women, mirroring the theme of Sound Sultan’s classic hit Orobo, which also celebrated fuller-figured women.
Released in the early 2010s, Orobo became a cultural anthem, with a 2013 remix featuring Flavour enjoying massive airplay across Nigeria and West Africa.
Since Sound Sultan’s passing from cancer in July 2021, numerous Nigerian music heavyweights including 2Face Idibia, Burna Boy, Spyro, and Sean Tizzle have paid tribute to the beloved artiste, whose influence continues to shape the Afrobeats genre.
Sound Sultan is widely regarded as one of the pioneers of modern Afrobeats, with an impressive catalogue that includes timeless hits such as Jagabantis, Natural Something, Ole, Kokose, Orobo, and Very Good Bad Guy.

His unique blend of socially conscious lyrics and infectious rhythms helped popularise Afrobeats both in Nigeria and internationally.
