Veteran Nollywood actress Bimbo Akintola has revealed that online bullying played a major role in strengthening her public support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the last general election.
Speaking on a recent episode of With Chude, the actress disclosed that her decision to openly back the former APC presidential candidate.

She stated that she was influenced by the harassment she received from an opposition supporter over her political choice.
According to her, she deliberately intensified her support as a response to the bullying and in defence of her right to personal opinion.
“I supported President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the election because somebody annoyed me with their bullying,” she said. “Nigerians can be annoying sometimes. You don’t have the right to bully people because of their choices. You don’t like this man, fine. You prefer another person, that’s also fine. But don’t bully others.”
Bimbo Akintola also referenced the online attacks directed at her colleague, Joke Silva.
Also, she noted that the Veteran actress was subjected to deeply hurtful comments for her political stance.
She revealed that this was one of the moments that pushed her to publicly declare her own support.
The actress used the opportunity to call on Nigerians to embrace tolerance and respect differences in political opinions

Also, she stresses that democracy thrives on diversity of thought.
“We need to stop bullying. We need to accept that we can never all agree, and that is what makes us great and beautiful. If we were all the same, life would be boring,” she added. “Till tomorrow, you might not agree that he was the best person for the job, but at that moment, that was who I believed in and voted for. You can’t take my voice away from me — it is mine.”
