The Federal Government of Nigeria has confirmed ongoing security and intelligence cooperation with the United States.
This follows recent precision airstrikes on terrorist hideouts in the North West region of the country.

In a press statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the government disclosed that Nigerian authorities are engaged in structured security collaboration with international partners.
This includes the US, as part of efforts to combat terrorism and violent extremism.
According to the ministry, the partnership involves intelligence sharing, strategic coordination and other forms of support in line with international law, mutual respect for sovereignty and shared global security interests.
These efforts, it said, have contributed to successful air operations targeting terrorist positions in the region.
The statement further emphasised that Nigeria’s counter-terrorism operations remain focused on the protection of civilian lives.
Also, preservation of national unity and respect for the rights and dignity of all citizens, regardless of religion or ethnicity.
The government noted that terrorist violence against any group remains a direct threat to Nigeria’s values and international peace.
The Federal Government also reaffirmed its commitment to working with international partners to dismantle terrorist networks.
Also, to disrupt their funding and logistics, prevent cross-border threats and strengthen Nigeria’s security and intelligence capabilities.
