Oil and Gas opportunities are creating new paths for young Nigerians to build strong careers in the energy sector.
The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has introduced the “Oil and Gas Field Readiness Training Programme” to drive this mission.

Oil And Gas Opportunities For Nigerian Youth
Through the initiative, NCDMB will train over 10,000 Nigerians in vital technical and digital skills.
Over the next two to three years, participants will gain hands-on experience in ten specialised areas.
They will learn subsea engineering, underwater welding, helicopter piloting, QA/QC, and modern digital skills like AI and drones.
Skills Collaboration
Meanwhile, NCDMB’s Executive Secretary, Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, explained that the programme aims to empower young Nigerians for industry leadership.
“Our vision is clear,” he said.
“We want Nigerian youth to power the nation’s energy future.”
To ensure relevance, NCDMB worked closely with PETAN, OPTS, PCTS, and the PTDF to identify skill priorities.
These collaborations helped NCDMB design training that directly responds to the oil and gas sector’s real demands.

In line with Section 10(1b) of the NOGICD Act, 2010, NCDMB prioritises Nigerian talent for industry roles.
After two to three years, the Board will assess outcomes and adjust the programme to match new trends.
Through this initiative, NCDMB strengthens the nation’s workforce, transforms youth potential, and secures Nigeria’s energy future.
