A sense of urgency has gripped Nigerian campuses as NELFUND reopens its student loan verification portal for just 48 more hours.

This move, announced late this week, gives tertiary institutions a final opportunity to complete a crucial step in the 2024/2025 loan process.
Student Loan Portal Reopens For Final 48 Hours
According to a statement from Director of Strategic Communications, Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, NELFUND will open the portal at midnight on Sunday, October 12, 2025, and close it at midnight on Tuesday, October 14, 2025.
Verification Key To Student Access
The brief reopening aims to ensure that no eligible student misses out on the government-backed education loan scheme because of institutional delays.

Moreover, for many students, completing this verification step serves as the key to securing financial support for their studies.
“This final window guarantees that every qualified student receives verification,” the Fund explained.
However, “Institutions that fail to complete the process within the given time will lose their place in this loan cycle, which will unfortunately deny their students access to the scheme.”
Accountability And Transparency
Furthermore, NELFUND will publish the names of any defaulting institutions, demonstrating its commitment to accountability and transparency.
By reopening the portal, NELFUND actively bridges the gap between policy and access—ensuring that the dream of higher education stays within reach for all deserving Nigerian students.
