Edo State is stepping up its development agenda after the Executive Council approved a revised supplementary budget of ₦799.820 billion for 2025

The Council made the decision during an emergency meeting presided over by Governor Monday Okpebholo, signalling a renewed focus on infrastructure.

Moreover, Finance Commissioner Emmanuel Okoebor explained that the revised budget shifts priorities strongly toward capital projects.

“Capital expenditure now accounts for 70% of the budget, up from 67%, while recurrent spending has dropped to 30%,” he said, emphasising the administration’s commitment to building roads, schools, and hospitals.

Capital Expenditure Drives Infrastructure Growth

Okoebor further broke down the numbers: the government increased recurrent costs by ₦12 billion to cover the minimum wage rise and the employment of over 1,000 hospital staff, while it raised capital expenditure by ₦113 billion, a 25% rise from ₦450 billion to ₦563 billion.

Overall, the revised budget demonstrates Edo State’s determination to prioritise infrastructure and public services, and it reinforces Governor Okpebholo’s pledge to improve residents’ lives while fostering economic growth.
