In preparation for the coronation of Senator Rasidi Ladoja as the 44ᵗʰ Olubadan, the Oyo State Government has announced temporary road closures and traffic diversions across key parts of Ibadan.

The coronation ceremony is scheduled for Friday, September 26, 2025, at the historic Mapo Hall.
The affected road closures will take effect from 7:00 a.m. on that day to ensure smooth movement and maximum security.
Affected Routes and Diversions
The roads to be closed include:
Beere Junction inbound toward Mapo Hall
Born Photo Junction inbound to Oja’ba
Idi-Arere Junction inbound to Oja’ba
Itamerin Junction inbound to Mapo Hall
Only the convoys of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Seyi Makinde will have direct access to the venue through the restricted routes.
To reduce congestion, the government has designated three parking zones: Ibadan North LGA car park opposite the Immigration Office, Agodi; the football field beside Yemetu Police Station; and Liberty Stadium, Oke Ado.
Shuttle buses will convey invited guests with valid passes from the parking areas to Mapo Hall.
Security and Significance
President Tinubu and other dignitaries are expected at the event, prompting the security measures.
Senator Rasidi Ladoja became the 44ᵗʰ Olubadan on August 21, 2025, after Oba Owolabi Olakulehin died on July 7, 2025.
The coronation marks the peak of a week-long series of cultural and traditional activities in Ibadan.
The state government has urged residents and motorists to plan their movements and use alternative routes to ease the expected traffic disruptions.
