Afrobeats superstar Davido has officially joined the Recording Academy, the organization behind the GRAMMY Awards, as a voting member.

The announcement was made on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, through the Academy’s Instagram page, which featured Davido among other newly admitted members.
The induction gives the Nigerian singer a voice in both the nomination and final-ballot stages for the 2026 GRAMMYs.
Davido, who earned three GRAMMY nominations in 2024, described the milestone as a “game-changer.”
He emphasised the importance of artistes having a say in the awards process, noting that voting ensures diverse voices are represented in global music recognition.
“Understanding the importance of how our voices are heard, I am participating in the GRAMMY Award process.
Voting empowers you to have a say in what is considered and voted on each season. I am honoured to be part of the Recording Academy community, and I look forward to voting,” he said.
His inclusion aligns with the Academy’s push to diversify its membership, with increased representation from African and other international artistes.
Voting for the 2026 GRAMMYs is scheduled to open on October 3, 2025.
