Atalanta head coach Ivan Juric has openly criticised Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman, confirming that he will not feature in Sunday’s Serie A match against Lecce.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Juric explained that Lookman’s exclusion was not simply due to fitness concerns but also linked to his attitude.
“Ademola will not be ready for tomorrow,” Juric said. “Atalanta requires spirit, humility, and passion for the shirt qualities he is currently lacking. I have a good relationship with Lookman, but I shouldn’t have to beg him to play.”
“It works the other way around. We are Atalanta, and he represents the city. We stand for hard work and humility.”
Ademola Lookman has yet to make an appearance this season and also missed pre-season friendlies, raising questions about his commitment.
His absence follows a difficult summer during which a proposed move to Inter fell through. In frustration, he submitted a transfer request and publicly criticised the club before returning to the UK to train alone.
The winger only rejoined Atalanta’s squad five days before the start of the Serie A campaign, leaving him far behind his teammates in preparation.
